Sthapna of Lord Shani Maharaj Temple.

Lord Shani Dev ji is one of the most popular deities revered by Hindus. Lord Shani is the sanctified form of the planet Saturn which is one of the nine heavenly objects called as Navagraha. Said to born to Surya Dev (Sun God) and Goddess Chhaya (Goddess Shade), Shani Devta finds an important place in almost all Hindu Temples.

Shani Shingnapur temple, located near Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, is considered to be the most revered Lord Shani’s temple in India. Shani Shingnapur temple has historic self-manifest idol of Lord Shanishwara. A legend is associated with the sighting of the scared idol. The temple is believed to be a "jagrut devasthan" (alive temple), meaning thereby that the deity still resides in the iconic idol of the temple that permeates fear against performing any irreligious and criminal act in the village. Unlike other Shani Devta temples, the swayambhu idol of 5.5 feet high is placed on open-air platform. The idol is made of black rock with Trishul and Nandi with small self- engraved images of Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman on the face of the main idol. No one is allowed to touch the idol and there is different system for offering oil to Shani Devta by which the offered oil is drained out into the boxes that keeps the idol and the place neat and clean.

This temple is visited daily by thousands of devotees seeking blessings of the Lord Shani. Devotees’ number increases on Saturdays considered to be a favorite day for the Lord. On Saturday falling on ' amavasya’, considered to be the most auspicious day for the Lord Shani’s blessings, the number of devotees swells into lakhs.

The Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust, Gandhinagar, Jammu, in its relentless pursuit for establishing new and best possible temples in the premises of the Temple Complex for the devotees, had, in one of its meetings, decided to build a new Lord Shani Temple. Luckily, one benevolent and devotee of Lord Shanishwara, Shri Devindera Khawle of Pune came forward to help the Trust in fulfilling its desire and offered to construct Shani Maharaj temple in the premises of Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir on the pattern of historic Shani Shingnapur temple with his own resources. The grateful Trust agreed to his gracious offer and soon the process was initiated for construction of new temple of Shani Devta for benefit of the devotees, not of Gandhinagar but of entire Jammu.

The foundation stone of the new Shani Devta temple was laid on 22nd June 2018 by the President of the Trust, Th. G S Charak with all religious traditions and rituals. The special gun-metal rock of the same size as that of Shani Shingnapur temple was brought from Shingnapur and installed here. This temple is almost the replica of the historic Shani Shingnapur temple with same design and system of offering oil. The idol will have in the background a beautiful arch of gun-metal of the same design of Shani Shingnapur temple. This Shani Maharaj ji temple is first of its kind in J&K and neighbouring States.

It is the new proud addition to Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple Complex which already has seven other temples.

Sthapna of new Shani temple was taken place on 10th August, 2018 at 10 A.M. with full religious rituals, recitation of Vedic hymns and hawan by the renowned Pandits of Shri Shani Shingnapur temple along with other local Pandits led by Head Pujari Pandit Ashwani Kumar Shastri in presence of a large number of devotees.

Recently a replica of Shri Shingnapur Mandir has been added in Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir Complex exactly on the pattern of Shri Shingnapur Temple, Murti Sathapna Samaroh of which was conducted by 11 learned Shastris arranged specially from Shingnapur on 10th of August 2018, followed by Pran Pratishtha with proper Religious rituals and thereafter Yagya/Hawan was performed, which was attended by large number of devotees.
